DANCE AND MOVEMENT

Our Dance Classes are based on ballet, jazz, modern and stage techniques aiming to give students the confidence, grace and ability to learn and perform routines in auditions. Specific requirements may be accommodated on request, but this course is designed to develop flexibility, strength, and stamina, while demystifying dance terminology with useful tips on how to approach routines.

  • Broadway Performance Dance
An introduction to the study of style and character movement. Students will learn various dance combinations from a range of Broadway musicals. This training is necessary since most shows today in New York, require that a dancer already know the original choreography before being considered for hire.
  • Dance Technique
Classes will be offered in Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Modern dance for ages and levels as appropriate. These classes will give children the opportunity to train in all the dance disciplines prior to tackling difficult Broadway choreography.
  • Dance for the Non-Dancer
Classes will be offered for students who want to learn dance but are not interested or capable of intensive ballet technique. These groups are often referred to as dancers who move well or actors who need to increase physicality. Leads often dance well but are not the most skilled dancers.

  • SINGING AND VOCAL TRAINING
Translate your unique voice to the type and demand of your music and character. Connect to the story that your song needs to tell. The first step in vocal training is freeing up the voice and being comfortable with music. Already comfortable? Then make your music or audition material inspired.
  • Voice Lessons
One on One voice lessons to learn proper singing technique. The technique chosen will be determined by the singer’s voice and type. Although placement remains the same the manner of achieving sound is different for pop, musical theater or opera.
  • Vocal Coaching
Coaching focuses on the presentation of songs rather than the technique of singing. The coach helps the student choose appropriate material based on need and then to perfect that material. This is available on a one-to-one basis and is an important component of our acting courses.
  • Voice & Speech Training Course
This course offers students the opportunity to acquire a clear and well-articulated vocal expression. This course is highly suitable for anyone wishing to improve their diction or any speaker with a strong, impeding accent.

  • ACTING AND DRAMA
Get the edge when it comes to the particulars of acting, on stage and on-camera. Our training is more intense, modern and practical than other schools. You will learn a clear specific acting process for any kind of role in film, TV, or theatre. You will learn how to access any kind of emotional state on cue, using your imagination and dreams. You will learn modern script analysis tools from psychology that the last generation of acting teachers didn’t have. Everything you need from soaps to pilots to independent film and industrials, to the stage. Get past the barriers so that you can perform with confidence and have the skills to back it up. Isn’t your career worth it?
  • Triple-Threat Musical Theatre Class
This unique class is designed to train the young actor in three different disciplines, Drama, Dance and Voice. Actors on this tract will spend an hour in drama class focusing on character development, acting techniques and scene study for musical theater. Then proceed to 30 minutes of vocal coaching learning presentation and musical selections specific to the actor’s type and audition strategies. Then, the class will focus on dance, musical theater dance styles and audition techniques. This class will eventually graduate into a performance class when all the elements will be utilized in scenes, solo acts and/or a full scale show.
  • Advanced & Intermediate Drama Classes
This course is suitable for students who have studied acting in the past or have some professional experience. Class will focus on advanced character development, acting techniques, scene study and dramatic styles.
  • Beginning Drama Classes

  • Audition Workshops

Students will study filmmaking and regularly perform in short filmed scenes designed to showcase their range, talent and learning. Each student receives one free DVD copy of their first scene. Students also have the opportunity to create his/her own demo reel on DVD or VHS.

    NON-PERFORMANCE CLASSES

  • Directing and playwriting
This workshop for directors is set up as an acting class; each participant will engage in exercises using acting techniques, improvisation and monologues and short, two-person scenes. The exercises serve to highlight and discuss principles, tools and techniques of directing actors. Issues addressed include: rehearsals, script analysis, establishing a collaborative relationship with actors, being more specific and effective with your direction, fixing a performance that is forced or flat, how to match a performance and still keep it alive take after take, when to push an actor; when to leave them alone, adding "layers" to a characterization, encourage creativity in an actor, trigger your own imagination and insight, and become a superior storyteller, working with "difficult" actors, non-actors, and with stars.
  • Dramatic Arts Studies
This academic course is geared to Dramatic appreciation, rather than performance goals. It teaches you how to become a better audience.
  • The Creative Process
